Can you help with heritage?

Can you help a group of young people on their heritage hunt?

Our young producers of Sugar & Spice  are on the hunt for stories of Tooting. Using photos, documents and fragments of memories they are exploring how our High Streets bind us together over decades.

Louise Pendry, Artistic Director sums up their story so far. “John and Iris Smith open up a sweet shop after the way. They have two young children and the jars are full of their hopes and dreams for their family. Over the decades their life weaves in and out of the developing High Street. They throw their daughters’ weddings in Tooting, one becomes a nurse in the local hospital. Eventually, they find themselves playing bingo in the Granada – remembering their first dates and great adventures.”
Can you help them write it?
Do you have memories of Tooting post the war that you’d be willing to share?
Do you have photos you’d donate to the project?
Are you interested in history? Would you like to research past trades, shops and heritage that has disappeared from our High Streets over the years.
Drop us a line!

Sugar and Spice has been made possible thanks to the support of The Heritage Fund.
