New writing for 2018 with first time theatre makers.
Emoji was a co-creation between Bounce and students from Anstee Bridge. Working for a year, the students contributed to developing the characters and plot for a new piece of writing. Drawing inspiration from Hans Christian Anderson and social media reports on mental health, the play takes place on prom night. For three young people life will never be the same as the fairytale breaks and revelations around social media bullying, domestic violence and bereavement are released.
The play was professionally performed, with all the young people given an opportunity to take supporting roles, design, manage the technical needs of the venue or be part of the front of house team. It was performed for two nights at Kingston Academy in May 2018.
